It's reasonable to compare MainStage to Receptor. I would say Receptor is more of an industrial strength solution in that it's really designed to playback the most demanding soft synths. But you still have to figure out how to control it on stage. With MainStage, assuming you have the laptop in front of you or close by, you have a very easy to manage interface. MainStage also comes with some killer soft synths like EVB3 and EVD6 plus the EXS sampler, analog synths and a TON of sounds and presets from the JamPacks and control strips. I've got a Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5. Didn't like my graphics card. I've got MainStage running on a 1.33Ghz PowerBook G4.
